About us
- Library – one of the oldest and most important foundations of civilization, the repository of knowledge and spiritual wisdom, national memory, cultural and scientific heritage of many generations. In our university libraries are always glad to see students and teachers.
- Formation of the university library is inextricably linked with the history of the formation and development of Zhetysu University, founded in 1972 as Taldykorgan Pedagogical Institute. Library staff at that time consisted of three employees, and library fund was formed from disparate collections, libraries, institutions and organizations of Education Systems.
- On September 20, 2004 at a meeting of the Scientific Council of the university, it was decided to assign the name of the university library Gali Ormanov.
- Now a multi-library fund of ZU named after I.Zhansugurov has more than 550 thousand copies. An important part of the fund, and the pride of our university – a collection of abstracts and dissertations at the university, the works of researchers, exclusive intra-university publications. The library has a wide range of universal and specialized periodicals, encyclopedias, dictionaries, reference books, educational literature. Provision of special disciplines in higher education teaching, reference and other publications has improved due to the active development of the country’s scientific, educational and publishing activities.
- User service is a 4-x branch reading rooms, which are equipped with 63 workstations, providing a unique opportunity for students, teachers and the widest readership access to remote international and domestic databases – full text, abstract and bibliography: electronic textbooks and teaching benefits faculty.
- Library Readers are able to obtain literature to the house on the subscription of textbooks and subscription scientific literature and fiction, as well as to search for books in the open, freely available, self-selected sources of information that develops professional search skills, expanding horizons of students and undergraduates and attracts them to reading books.
Directions of library activities
- For the formation of library and information resources, as close as possible to the needs of students and faculty, the library carries out the work of three functional sectors: Sector of acquisition and processing of scientific literature, sector of reference and bibliographic work and automation of library processes, the sector of service and scientific organization of foundations. The library collaborates with the leading Kazakhstani publishing houses, such as: Nur Press, Evero, Kazakh University, Daryn, Adal. The library provides access to scientific databases Elsevier, Polpred.com., RMEB, Wiley, Epigraph, Paragraph, Scopus.
Strategic development of the library:
- development and improvement of infrastructure of libraries, organizing a comfortable library space; automation of library processes and the development of an electronic library.
